The Brotherhood in the MSF community is a wonderful way to preach the gospel through actions and works. As a religious Brother, he, like the Religious Priest commits himself to Christ and the Christian community by vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience. While a Brother’s ministry does not include administering sacraments, he can be deeply involved in the life of his community and in prayer life. It is from his interior life that he is able to meet the needs of the Church in ministries such as teaching, social work, technical occupations, etc. The ministries of religious Brothers are varied and reflect the traditions of a given community. Flexibility to meet current needs is one of the main characteristics of the Brother’s life style. Brothers make use of their career skills or other gifts to support the work of various Apostolates. Frequently a brother is based in a parish setting even though his work may be based outside the parish. Each brother brings his own set of charisms to his ministry, but there are some basic qualifications for the role.
